Quick Look: Sunset Eyes using Milani Runway Eyes palette

I have several Milani Runway Eyes palettes. I'm working on getting the entire collection. Only 3 left to go. I created this gorgeous look with the Milani Runway Eyes 10 Haute Couture palette. I'm calling it ...

Sunset Eyes..... (So original, right.)

Lets get to it!

After priming my eyes with my E.L.F. Primer, I chipped a bit of the lighter purple(1) color into my E.L.F. Makeup Lock & Seal container, added a few drops to make the purple creamier and give it a bit of added pizzazz. I applied this all over the lid all the way up to the lower crease.

Next I added the pink(2) to the upper crease blending slightly into the light purple. I kept this color dry for easier blending.

Once that was done I applied the white(3) highlight color to the brow bone and inner tear duct area.

The beautiful gold color(4) came next. I lightly applied this just under the brow highlight and blended into the pink(2) to create a slight coral color. Then, wetting my brush a bit, I applied it to the center of the lid leaving the light purple(1) showing above and on both sides. I also applied it to the inside lash line just 1/4 of the way across.

I applied the darker purple(5) to the outer edge of the lid to deepen the look and tone it down.

Finally, I used the green(6) on the lower lash line blending it into the gold(4) and winging it out on the end.

I finished this look off with a thin line of plum colored liquid liner on the top lid and applied my white Wet n Wild liner to the waterline. After applying a few coats of my Avon SuperShock Max mascara and using my Milani Brow Fix kit to define my eyebrows, the look was complete.

Let me know what you think! Leave your comments below or email me your looks using this palette.

Hope you like it.

Quick Look: Messy bun tutorial

Sometimes I just don't feel like doing anything with my hair. Sometimes even brushing it seems like too much to do. Everyone has days like this. The days where you have to go somewhere but don't really feel like getting ready. My solution.... A messy bun. It's the quickest and the easiest look to create in literally less than 5 minutes! Here's a quick, spur of the moment tutorial on how to get this effortless look.

Step 1: Begin with a large sized hairbun. You can buy one from any accessory store or you can make one. I've made a few using two of my husband's thicker black socks and I'm currently using the one pictured here. (My husband won't let me use his socks anymore ;) ) The key is to get one matching your hair color.

Step 2: Without using a hairbrush, put your hair in a loose ponytail and put your ponytail through the hairbun.

Step 3: Bring the bun up to the end of your ponytail and begin rolling your hair downward.

Step 4: As you roll your hair, gradually spread it around the hairbun and tuck your hair as you roll. Once you've reached the end, secure the bun with a few bobby pins and spray it with hairspray. Do not smooth out any fly always or bumps.

The Finished Look: A messy looking bun that is trendy and effortless and best of all it takes almost no time to do!

I wore mine with natural looking makeup, boho style wooden earrings, an oversized sweater, black leggings and riding boots.

It was put together look that was cozy and warm yet presentable. A great weekend look for winter.

Nailed it!

Well everyone, my computer is broken again so I blog to you today from my iPhone. I'm really hoping this works because I have some amazing segments coming your way but first things first, my newest "Nailed It" segment. I had been looking at this style on Pinterest for a while now and liked it but never thought to try it. Yesterday, when I watched the tutorial titled "Not Just A Ponytail" from The Small Things blog I said to myself Kat, today is the day! So here it goes...

What it's supposed to look like in blonde.

I took mine (brunette) 1 step further and did a single thick braid down my back. I got quite a few compliments on it and the result was a simple elegant look great for a day at the office.

I really hope you try this look for yourself and create your own spin on it as well. Send me your pics. I would love to see the variations you will create.

Quick Look: Simply Vintage

Simple vintage look created by shaping brows to perfection, covering lid up to brow bone with a light pink highlighter shade and applying a light grey to the crease to add subtle dimension. Next, I applied Avon's ExtraLasting Eye Liner in Cobalt a thick line over the top lid winging it out at the ends and around the bottom lid in a thin line under the lash line and in the tear duct. Then I applied COLOR ICON™ BROW & EYE LINER in White to the waterline to help open my eyes and make them POP! Lastly, after curling my lashes, I applied 5 coats of SuperSHOCK Max Mascara in Black to add volume to the top lashes and Mary Kay Lash Love in Black to lengthen each bottom lash to their full extent. Add your favorite lip gloss and VIOLA! you have a simple everyday vintage look that's virtually effortless.

Zany for Zenni!

Zany for Zenni!

Hello all! Today, I let you in on a little secret I've been keeping. Not many people know about it and although I'd kinda like to keep it that way, I just CAN'T contain it any longer!

Its called Zenni Optical and its quite possibly THE most amazing website to buy glasses for both fashion and purpose. Zenni has hundreds of different frame styles, lens types and even sunglasses! But the best part about Zenni is that its simple and AFFORDABLE! If you don't care about brand names and just want to find a pair of glasses that are cute and affordable.... This site is just for you!

With the trend for eyeglasses constantly changing, who can afford to stay up with the latest eyeglass fashions? I know I can't. So what do I do? I log into my Zenni Optical account, look for a few pairs, plug in my prescription and pay! Its just that easy!

Zenni has several options to choose from and if you are still unsure about buying eyeglasses online...Don't fret! Zenni offer an upload option! Just upload a straight on photo of yourself and try the frames on. Simple.

I have bought at least 7 pairs from this site and have never been disappointed. The shipping is fast and easy and the prices are so reasonable that losing, breaking or trend changing doesn't concern me.

Here are the 2 pair that I received yesterday.
Trendy Purple and Black frames item #338537

Super Cute Burgundy frames item #235517

Each pair comes with a case and soft lens cleaner. Grand total for bot, including shipping and handling....

Ipsy's Oopsy!

January's Ipsy bag

I have to admit I am kinda disappointed in this months Ipsy bag. Although I'm sure I will use each of the items I received and thought the navy bag was super cute, I felt like the bag items themselves were well...... Boooorrrriiinng! Nothing unusable, but definitely nothing special.

So lets begin...

1. Big Sexy Hair- Have never actually tried it but I'm hoping that using it with my Bed Head Deep Waver will add just the right amount of volume.

2. Nailtini Straight Up Color Nail Laquer in Frappe - So excited to try this color. Its a classic light pink that could be paired with a grey accent nail or used alone for a classic nude look.

3. Tuscan Blood Orange Body Butter - THIS SMELLS Ah-Mah-Zing! Ive already used it several times. Not only does it smell great but it makes my skin silky smooth! A new fave in body butters.

4. Josie Maran 100% pure argan oil -Can be used for so many things... skin, hair, nails. Perfect for those dry elbows or split ends.

5. SOHO "get a grip" Concealer Brush - SOHO brand brushes are such a nice quality. I was so happy to get this. I had been needing a good concealer brush but hadn't gotten around to getting one. This was right on time.

Last but not least... The bag itself.

Amazing Grey!

I completely forgot about the amazing grey nail color I bought a few weeks back. It's NYC's New York Minute Quick Dry polish in Sidewalkers! In love with this color and it was only $1.99! You can't beat it. I used Essie's 3 in one as a base coat.

Quick Look: Teal and Taupe Tutorial

I'm back.... Finally. I was under the weather for a while with a slight case of pneumonia, I'm back now and ready to show you the eyeshadow treatment that that I did for work yesterday and got TONS of compliments on it! So many that I decided to make a "tutorial" if you will, on how it was created. I'm calling this one....

Teal and Taupe

Starting at the tear duct I patted #1 half way across the lid until about the center. Although most all Coastal Scents shadows are made of Mica and are extremely pigmented, I went over the area twice to ensure that I get the exact color hue that I wanted. (I did not blend) At this point I changed to an angled liner brush and applied the same color on the bottom lash line half way across.

I then used #2 for the other half of the lid and applied it all the way to the end of the outer edge of the lid going over it twice again to get the best pigment. No blending at this point either. Switching again to the angled liner brush I applied this color to the lash line beginning at the outer corner and working my way to the center, slightly and more gently overlapping with color #1 to add a bit of a blending affect.

Next using a light pearly taupe color #3 I changed brushed to a softer more full blending brush and applied the taupe to the upper crease of the lids, still at this point not blending any of the colors.

Applying #4 to the inner corner of the tear duct and to the brow bone, I then moved on to my new friend Matt(e) Batalli.

Using my Avon Ergonomic Rounded Eyeshadow Brush I applied Matt(e) Batalli
to the outer corner of the lid bringing it down onto the lower corner of the bottom lid just slightly.

At this point I used my Avon Ergonomic Rounded Eyeshadow Brush to pull the color upwards at the ends then gently pulled it across the lower section of the crease about 1/4th way across.

Using the #9 Blending Brush from my Coastal Scents 22 Piece Brush set I gently blended #1, 2 and #3 across the lid. After getting all of the color off of the #9 Blending Brush, I glided it through the crease.

We are now done with the shadow...

Now for what I call "THE ENHANCEMENTS".

I applied my Avon Glimmersticks Liqui-glide liner in Black Plum in a thin line on my upper lid bringing it all the way to the outer corner. Then I used my COLOR ICON™ EYE LINER in White on just the waterline.

After curling my lashes I used my favorite go-to mascara...the one I always talk about, My Avon Super Shock Max Mascara. I just cant say enough about the amazing results I get with this product. The fullness and lash enhancement really is a step above some of the other high end brands that I have tried. I finished the look off with a light coat of  Super Extend Extreme Mascara on the lower lashes. I didn't want to go to heavy on the lower lashes because I really wanted the tealy green shadow to pop.
